WV gov. signs order initializing the state’s switch to NGVs

The Associated Press published this story in Charleston Gazette regarding an executive order signed by WV Gov. Tomblin which will initiate at least a partial switch of the state’s fleet vehicles to run on natural gas.

“Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is moving ahead with his plan to switch at least part of the state’s vehicle fleet from gasoline and diesel to natural gas.

At a news conference today, Tomblin will sign an executive order establishing a task force to look into transitioning the state’s vehicle fleet to natural gas and developing an infrastructure to support compressed natural gas vehicles.

The task force is expected to include top executives from gas producers and companies with such relevant holdings as service stations.

Tomblin first signaled his support of natural gas vehicles during his State of the State address in January. In that speech, Tomblin said it made sense to use fuels that are produced in West Virginia.”
